My name is Mike Westergren and I’ve been smoking on conventional smokers (firebox on one end and smoke stack on the opposite end) ever since high school. I found that the conventional pit was always too hot on the firebox end of the pit which made me constantly rotate the meat from firebox end to smoke stack end of the pit to keep the meat from burning on the firebox end. I just knew there had to be a better way. So over a period of years through trial and error I finally found a simple yet effective design which is now known as the Original Old Buzzard Smoker. I have also designed a combination barbecue smoker/gas grill. You can switch off from wood or charcoal to propane gas whenever you want to do some different type of grilling or smoking. They are using the local energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy and bio energy which are considered to be pure sources and environment friendly, nor create Green House effects which are part of global warming. This technology, that the Ministry of Energy has recently shown to young people at Mai Kao Energy Office, has come in varied forms of stoves and different given names such as, ‘Bio-Energy Stove’ ‘Grilled Chicken Stove’, ‘Economy Stove’, ‘Incinerator Stove’, and even ‘Millionaire Stove’, or ‘Super Aung-Lo Stove’! Whatever they call it, the Stove is built for cooking and kitchen purposes. The sources of the fire come from sticks, branches, palm grain cases, coconut shells, corn stubble and unused sugarcane which can be used as fuel. The working principle of the stove is that the air flows up in a sort of vacuum where oxygen is limited causing the energy to continually develop, changing the hard energy into a gas fuel. And by so doing, the fuel gas of 1-2 kilograms can be used for 30 to 45 minutes. If there is any reductions of the fuel during the operating time, they can always add scraps of sticks or branches as sources of fire and energy. Stainless handlebars have cast stainless steel BMX grips with twist clutch and throttle. Stainless headers merge into ceramic coated and painted frame. Modified intake manifold links to a1.25″ SU carburetor. The hand formed gas tank and tail piece from 3003 aluminum. The downtube is the oil tank.
